The capacity to get good sleep is foundational to mental health and physical wellbeing.  Certain patterns of sleep can lead not only to depression and anxiety but also to a sluggish metabolism and eventually to diabetes and heart disease. In order to address sleep issues in therapy, it is good to have good data and in order to get that, Dr. Sara recommends getting the Sleep Cycle app.
The attention is analogous to a muscle, and being able to direct and focus attention is also foundational to mental health.  Good sex depends on being able to keep the mind in the body and the attention trained on pleasurable sensations.  That’s why Dr. Sara recommends all her patients learn the basics of mindfulness meditation.  There are many apps out there to help you learn to meditate, apps like HeadspaceBuddhify, and Calm.  Most of my patients prefer Calm because it allows them to set the time frame for meditating.  Dr. Sara specifically recommends training in Mindfulness of the Body for her sex therapy patients.
